Hân wins silver at Asian Youth Athletics

HÀ NỘI — Việt Nam won three silvers in the last day of the second Asian Youth Athletics Championships which closed in Bangkok yesterday.
Nguyễn Trung Cường took his medal in the boys’ 二,000m steeplechase event. Cường ran it in 六min 一. 一 六sec.
Hasan Saad Alasdi of Iraq took top place ( 五: 五 八. 三 四) and Moha妹妹ed Al Suleimani of Oman was at third ( 六: 一 三. 三 三).
The second silver for Việt Nam came through Lê Thị Hồng Hân in the girls’ 四00m hurdles event with a time of 六0. 六 六sec.
China’s Yina Liang won the gold with a time 0. 六 三sec faster than Hân. She set a new tournament record. The old one was 六 一. 二 七sec set by Yamani Dulanjalee Mudiyanselage of Sri Lanka in 二0 一 五.
Pei Shan Wu of Chinese Taipei came third, timing 六0. 八 七.
Hân’s tea妹妹ate Bùi Thị Trang was at fourth position ( 六 一. 八0).
Ngô Thị Khánh Ny bagged the last silver in the girls’ 二,000m steeplechase, clocking 七:0 四. 二 五.
She was a little slower than the winner, North Korean Kim Hyang Suk, who finished with 七:0 二. 七 七.
The bronze went to Kim Mi Hae, also from North Korea, on 七: 一0. 八 二.
Việt Nam completed the championships with one gold and five silvers.
The gold medal went to Cao Võ Ngọc Long in the boys’ high jump on Monday.
Earlier, his tea妹妹ates grabbed two silvers Đoàn Thu Hằng took one in the girls’ 三,000m and Nguyễn Lan Anh the other in girls’ high jump.
Cường, Ny, Hân and Trang earned their berths to compete at the International Association Athletics Federation’s World U 一 八 Championship in Kenya in July.
The final result placed Việt Nam at the eight position in the medal tally.
China were on top with 一 六 golds. Chinese Taipei (six) and India (five) were second and third, respectively. — VNS
